Tuition programmes

2005_0613Image0043Available at pre-school, primary and secondary level, tuition is tailored to the student. There are no “off-the-shelf” programmes. Instead lessons are developed based on the needs of your child, which have been identified during the assessment process. Tuition then follows the NZ curriculum and subject lessons for the school term.

Little Learners (Preschool Education)

Preschool Education is vital to ensure your child has the best foundation for continued school success.
Clever Kids Tuition New Plymouth offers Little Learners a unique programme for four to five-year-olds, developed by CKNZ founder Pauline Sutton, a teacher at new entrant level and also reading recovery trained.
Little Learners’ students are taught literacy and numeracy basics, designed to develop a solid foundation and enhance their confidence before that first day of school.
“It not only prepares them for reading skills but also lays the groundwork for spelling, writing and maths in a fun learning environment,” says Mrs Sutton.
Little Learners follows the Clever Kids mantra and is taught by trained and experiended teachers.

One-on-One Tuition

One-one-one tuition has helped Clever Kids become a market leader in tuition. Mrs Sutton found there was huge demand for children to have individual programmes created on their individual strengths and weaknesses to back up what is being taught at school. All children who attend Clever Kids are offered a complimentary, one-to-one tuition assessment by a qualified, registered teacher regardless of whether they attend one-to-one or small group tuition. Each style of tuition is beneficial for both, a struggling student or a gifted student who needs extending.

A crowded school curriculum with growing demands on classroom teachers means students are at greater risk of missing out on help, this is where Clever Kids steps in to fill that gap and provide extra help.

Homework Help

Clever Kids tutors also give guidance to children with their homework tasks, and tutors speak the same classroom language as classroom teachers.

“In the past few years teachers have changed the way they teach maths and english and parents often confuse or unknowingly lead their children astray by trying to teach them the way they were taught,’’ says Mrs Sutton.
